Uralkali has awarded scholarships to the five best students from the Berezniki Branch of the Perm National Research Polytechnic University (BB PNRPU).

The awards ceremony took place during the Youth Science for Regional Development International Conference of Students and Young Scientists. Students in their third and fourth years studying Technological Machinery and Equipment and Chemical Technology of Inorganic Substances courses were given scholarships according to their examination results in the first term of the 2015-2016 academic year.

The main selection criteria were strong academic performance, the writing of scientific papers in the Company’s field of activity and successful completion of practical training.

Furthermore, Uralkali gifted Samsung tablets to three pupils from the town of Berezniki, who scored full marks in maths, physics and chemistry competitions. The competitions were organised jointly by Uralkali and BB PNRPU.

Ruslan Ilyasov, HR Director of Uralkali, said:

The use of advanced technology and the implementation of international experience and best practices would not be possible without qualified employees, which is why Uralkali is strives to recruit talented young people. The Company works closely with higher and secondary educational institutions, contributes to their refurbishment and provides methodological support to teaching staff. Graduates of BB PNRPU have traditionally been considered potential Uralkali employees. Many of them have gone on to have successful careers at the Company.

As part of an agreement between Uralkali and BB PNPRU, scholarships have been awarded twice a year every year since 2007 on the basis of exam results each semester. The scholarships amount to 3,000 roubles per month. In addition to higher education institutions, Uralkali awards scholarships to students from Berezniki Polytechnic College and Solikamsk Mining and Chemical College.
