14.02.2020

Uralkali will be the lead sponsor of ‘Stroganov Mile 2020’, the Perm Region’s XI Open Snowkiting Championship, which will be hosted on 15-16 February 2020 by Usolye, a city in the Kama Basin. More than 40 athletes from the Perm Region and other Russian cities are expected to compete in two different categories — ‘course race’ and ‘freestyle’.

Free masterclasses and snowkiting workshops for beginners will be organised during the championship.

Spectators will also be able to participate in an exciting festival programme. The ‘Stroganov Chambers’ history museum complex will open its doors to host various interactive events and entertainment programmes, including excursions on horseback and tours of the museum complex in Old Usolye.

Mikhail Kuzvesov, CEO of Uralkali subsidiary, Berezniki Mining Construction Office, commented:

Uralkali will be the competition’s lead sponsor for the fifth year running, having started this partnership in 2016. The Company supports projects designed to promote a healthy lifestyle, and helps to organise various sporting events, as well as more general large-scale public events in Berezniki and Solikamsk. The ‘Stroganov Mile’ snowkiting competition is one of the most spectacular events in Usolye and attracts winter sports fans from all over the region.

For information:

Snowkiting is an outdoor winter sport where skiers and snowboarders use kite power to glide on snow or ice. Usolye has hosted snowkiting competitions since 2010. In addition to the ‘Stroganov Mile’, Uralkali sponsors other events organised in Usolye: prominent examples include the international bell festival ‘Russian Chimes’, the ‘Stroganov Regata’, and a horse-racing competition — the ‘Stroganov Verst’.
