Uralkali opened a multi-functional centre of martial arts in Berezniki (Perm Region, Russia). The new facility will host training and competitions in wrestling, sambo, MMA, boxing, hand-to-hand combat and crossfit.

The opening ceremony was held on 17 February in Berezniki. The event was attended by the Governor of Perm Region Dmitry Makhonin, the Perm Regional Minister of Sports Tatyana Chesnokova, and two representatives of Uralkali — Chief Executive Officer Vitaly Lauk and Director for Sports and Youth Policy Radmir Gabdullin. Also participating as a guest of honour was Kirill Sidelnikov, a world and European champion in sambo and a Ural FC winner.

A public facility, the centre is outfitted with advanced professional equipment for various exercises. In an effort to promote sports among younger people, the centre will provide free training sessions for the children taking part in competitions.

Dmitry Makhonin, Governor of Perm Region:

This new centre of martial arts is the first such specialised facility in the region. It will surely find its audience as martial arts are a very popular sport here. The founder of the centre is Uralkali. On our part, we support socially responsible initiatives of local businesses. Last year, we had a successful collaboration with Uralkali to host the first international tournament in mixed martial arts. So today I wish numerous victories and great achievements to the young athletes and their coaches who will be using this facility!

Vitaly Lauk, Uralkali CEO:

We are committed to creating new social infrastructure within our area of operations in order to develop children’s sports and promote healthy and active living. It is our priority to provide convenient and friendly conditions for residents of Berezniki and Solikamsk.
