Representatives of Uralkali Take Part in Round Table on Balanced and Effective Use of Mineral Fertilisers at Indian Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers

Representatives of PJSC Uralkali (the Company; Moscow Exchange; URKA), one of the world’s largest potash producers, participated in a round table discussion on balanced and effective use of mineral fertilisers, held on 27 February at the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers of India (New Delhi, India).
The Indian delegation included Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, Joint Secretary of the Department of Fertilisers in the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers of India, and Parvinder Singh Gahlaut, Managing Director of Indian Potash Limited, as well as representatives of Chambal Fertilisers Chemical Limited and Shriram Fertilisers & Chemicals.
The Russian delegation was represented by Alexander Orlov — Director of the Department of the Chemical-Technological Complex and Bioengineering Technologies of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, and Alexander Rybas, Russia’s Trade Commissioner in the Republic of India.
The participants in the round table discussed current issues pertaining to the role of agriculture in food security, helping to inform Indian farmers on the effective use of potash fertilisers and prospects of increasing the yield of crop cultures produced in the region.
During the event, Uralkali representatives presented the results of the highly effective pilot project that the Company initiated in 2018, which implemented ‘site-specific nutrient management’ on several Indian fields.
In addition, Uralkali held a presentation which discussed balanced and effective application of potash fertilisers, based on the international experience of the Company, which supplies its products to more than 60 countries worldwide.
Alexander Orlov, Director of the Department of the Chemical-Technological Complex and Bioengineering Technologies of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, commented:
For many years, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia has been successfully collaborating with Russia’s leading producers of mineral fertilisers, specifically focusing on helping expand their presence in key markets. The pilot project for balanced application of fertilisers, which we presented today to our Indian counterparts, together with Uralkali, leading producer of potash fertilisers globally, is a testament to the commitment of Russian companies to supplying highly competitive non-resource products to international markets. It also demonstrates their desire to develop innovative solutions for the application of fertilisers, in collaboration with leading local consumers and experts, in order to ensure long-term food security in such a large country as India. The importance of this project was recognized in the official documents of the Russia-India Intergovernmental Committee, and we will endeavor to continue implementing similar initiatives with Russian producers in the future.
