Perm Region Acting Governor Dmitry Makhonin Visits Uralkali

On 3 March, Dmitry Makhonin, the Acting Governor of Perm Region, began a working visit to Uralkali, where he was shown how potash is produced and discussed the Company’s development prospects with Uralkali management.

As part of the visit, he was given a tour of the Berezniki-4 mine by Uralkali’s CEO, Dmitry Osipov. Mr.Makhonin witnessed the operation of a heading machine as part of the Ural-20R roadheader, a conveyor hopper and a self-propelled car, as well as viewing the world’s largest underground potash ore storage. At a depth of 400 metres, the Acting Governor talked with miners, cutting machine operators and a driver of one of Uralkali’s self-propelled cars.

In addition, during the Acting Governor’s visit to Berezniki, Dmitry Osipov will present a report on Uralkali’s industrial cooperation in procurement at a meeting of directors of industrial companies.

Dmitry Makhonin, Acting Governor of the Perm region, commented:

Uralkali is a key partner to the Perm Region. The Company contributes significantly to the development of social infrastructure, including the creation of new jobs. When delivering large projects, it is important to preserve resources, especially human resources. The success of any large manufacturing business is dependent on its workforce; therefore, it is vital to create comfortable conditions for employees and their families.

Dmitry Osipov, Uralkali CEO, commented:

We discussed Uralkali’s current initiatives and our investment plans with the head of the Perm Region. Uralkali has already signed special investment contracts with regional and federal authorities amounting to a total of around RUB 200 billion. We expect the delivery of these projects to create over 2,000 new jobs.

Our goal is to maintain a leading position in the industry. As one of the largest employers in the region, we welcome the support provided by the regional Government to develop industrial production and realise the economic potential of the Perm Region.
