Uralkali Releases over 39,000 Juvenile Sterlet into the Kama River

Uralkali ecologists have today released more than 39,000 juvenile sterlet into the waters of the Kama Reservoir (Perm Region, Russia).
This activity was supervised by representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Perm Region, the Middle Volga Territorial Administration of the Russian Federal Fisheries Agency, the Kama-Ural Branch of FSBI Glavrybvod and the Aquaculture Directorate of the Federal Fisheries Agency.
Yulia Mandziy, Uralkali’s Head of Environmental Protection Department, commented:
“The environmental aspect is among the priority areas of Uralkali’s strategy for Sustainable Development. This is demonstrated by the Company’s long-standing contributions to the maintenance of the biological diversity of the Kama River, which in turn improves the environment in the region in which we operate.”

Sterlet is a type of sturgeon fish listed in the Red Book of the Perm Region.
In the period from 2015 to 2019, Uralkali has released over 370,000 juvenile sterlet and 13,000 juvenile pike into the Kama Reservoir.
